As a part of a major national organization with chapters throughout the country, the Club’s objectives are:
We are a Nominating organization for the Port of New Orleans Dock Board Commissioners.
To promote, further and support an American Merchant Marine, including shipyards and other allied industries.
To promote waterborne commerce and all segments of the maritime industry.
To aid worthy and economically justifiable Great Lakes, river, inland waterways and harbor improvements.
Our local club mission is:
To promote maritime education in our local schools and colleges.
To create public awareness of the importance of maritime business to the local economy.
To create a skilled and educated workforce for our maritime businesses.
Provide an annual scholarship.
Provide Educational Seminars.
Networking opportunities include:
Welcome reception for USCG District 8 commander held bi-annually
Annual Crawfish Boil (May)
Annual Golf Tournament (March)
Annual Maritime Person of the Year Gala held each fall, when we celebrate the accomplishments of local industry leader
Quarterly Lunch and Learns
Partnered with NOMMA and local universities and community colleges to form a Student Port Propeller Club
Provide timely electronic communiqués such as:
- current conditions on the Mississippi River
- funding for dredging
- industry information regarding conferences and charitable events
Advocate in Washington through letters of support for legislation beneficial to the maritime industry and through the participation of several board members who serve on the board of the International Propeller Club headquartered in Washington, D.C.
